Rosie Nicholls' SKETCH BOOK COMEDY: WIP MATERIAL CLASS

Tutor: Rosie Nicholls

Venue: Marylebone Theatre (map)

Date(s): Wed 24th Feb

Times: 6.30pm-9.30pm

There is a great tradition of sketch and character comedy in this country - from League of Gentlemen to French & Saunders, Philomena Cunk to Alan Partridge, Kevin & Perry to Vic & Bob. If you’ve got your own idea for a sketch or comedy character, but you’re not sure how to develop it - this is the class for you.
  • Part-scratch night, part-workshop, part-devising session - bring your half formed ideas and be open to working on them with a group of actor/creatives
  • What is my comedy USP? How do I develop my unique voice as a performer?
  • Engage in supportive critical feedback of your work and the work of others
  • Your work can be written and read off the page, devised, improvised, monologue, stand up, character driven, clown based or something that blends multiple genres - but it must be something you want to people to laugh at (dramedy is fine!)
  • Working on the comedy circuit - how to start, how to book gigs, Ed Fringe & other comedy festival advice for performers and self producers
Work towards creating a five minute set of sketch or character comedy in a supportive, collaborative workshop environment with Rosie Nicholls, sketch comedian/actor (Grubby Little Mitts, No Rolls Barred, Time For Questions) and producer of work-in-progress alt comedy night Sketch Book (Rosemary Branch, Pleasance, Assembly Festival)
