SENSE OF HUMOUR: COMEDY FOR ACTORS
Does comedy feel like a bit of a mystery? Being funny on cue can feel intimidating, and many of us think we either have it or we don’t. Think again!
Sense of Humour is a scene study class for actors looking to enhance their understanding of comedy writing and performance. Looking at monologues and scenes from classics, contemporaries and the world of sketch comedy, we work as a group to pick apart what makes comedy tick; from Shakespeare to Fleabag via the Edinburgh Fringe.
- Dig into the structure of comedy writing for performance; character, scene setting, beats, physical comedy, timing and more
- Jokes vs. Story Beats - what to look for in a comedy script
- How to make the funniest choice for your character
- Improve your sight reading of new scripts in a relaxed, supportive environment
- Speed through “table work” with your script on it’s feet in a workshop setting
- Getting it “wrong” to rapturous applause - see what taking creative risks can do for your performance!
